New Instructor Introduction:

Melissa Arcari:

We would like to welcome back Melissa Arcari to our family of instructors at Stoney Creek School of Art. Melissa has worked with us as a camp instructor, and now will be leading instruction for the children & teens program this fall.

Melissa majored with an Honours Arts degree in Visual Arts from the University of Western Ontario, where she first gained significant art instructing experience as a first year visual arts Teacher's Assistant. She then attended Teacher's College at the University of Toronto where she gained more teaching experience in both English and Visual Arts at the Intermediate/Senior level. For the past year, Melissa has been working for an English Conversation school in Japan, and loved every moment of it. Currently Melissa is a practicing artist, creating some of her own work, as well as commissions for others from her home art studio. She is looking forward to working with all the new & returning students coming to the Stoney Creek School of Art this year! Melissa is offering the Introduction to Creativity and Techniques class for teens and adults.

Brandy Moore:

Brandy Moore will be returning to lead students interesting in learning about acrylic painting and developing their sketching of compositions and a second program about Portraiture. Students will enjoy her open and flexible approach to technique and art making. Brandy has been following her desire to express herself on paper and canvas for many years. Rather than pursuing a formal art education, Brandy has developed her own art with occasional focused art courses to enhance certain skills. She enjoys all forms of art and has chosen not to focus on any particular subject or medium – choosing instead to experiment with new styles and subjects whenever the mood or inspiration arises. She has worked with oils, watercolour, pastels, colour pencils and ink. Brandy is currently exploring natural themes using acrylics on canvas. She loves natural forms and is particularly moved by the wonderful compositions that nature produces with miraculous profusion, but which we quite often do not see since they are fleeting moments in our hectic lives.
